1954 – USSR offers to join NATO

1953 – Chief Anthony Enaohoro of  Nigeria moved in House of Representative that the house accepts as a primary political objective the attainment of ‘Self – Government for Nigeria in 1956’, he was opposed by Alhaji Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna of Sokoto who moved the adoption of an amendment changing the words  ‘in 1956’ to as soon as practicable.
