The Olubadan of Ibadan land Oba Dr. Odulana Odugade has installed a new Aare Latoosa in the ancient town of Ibadan. The newly installed Mogaji Aare Latoosa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Hakeem Adebayo Bakare after his installation promised to use his position to promote the Yoruba language which is already going into extinction. The new installed Aare Latoosa pointed out that parents are to be blamed on the current state of the language as the language is in its verge of extinction. “The Yorubas should imbibe the culture of using our mother’s tongue at home to give their children the opportunity of being accustomed to our language. Anybody that puts his or her tribe’s language or dialect in relegation for another language plans its extinction. We need to change for a better society by making our language; our culture and Yoruba race as entity to behold.”
