A love letter to Nigerian Feminists – Ayodele Olofintuade

Don’t forget to keep your eye on the ball. We will have equality, we will have bodily autonomy, we will have our sexual and reproductive rights. We will use our voices. We will have anything we set our sights on because we are human. We will have all our rights, we have power, we will use it.

Get it Together |Family Planning Neighbourhood Campaign

‘Family planning is a primary health strategy with important benefits for both maternal and child health’

Family planning has its pivotal role in lowering maternal and child mortality and environmental stability. It is about having children by choice and not by chance. Different methods are employed to achieve this. These methods are includes Hormonal Contraceptive (pills), intra-uterine contraceptive (IUD) Female and Male sterilisation among others.

There are times I don’t have my day planned out especially when it involves my advocacy commitment: War against Sexual Harassment & Rape, Mental health and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Campaigns, visitation and outreaches just come calling and there I am on the field. This day is one of those days I was preparing to start my activities for the day when I heard the voice of a woman calling and sensitising on the need to GET IT TOGETHER. Ẹ bó de, ẹ já ká ṣòrọ̀ nípa ìfètò sí ọmọ bíbí

that was a member of NUHRI 2 Oluyole Local Government Area Social mobilisers who I later identified as Mrs Olaitan Oseni calling. They numbered about 20 so I was told by Babafunke.Olatoye-Ojo their team leader who also serve as NUHRI’s social mobilisers coordinator for Ibadan South East, Ibadan South West and Oluyole in LGAs.

Family planning is central to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs.

Mrs Ayobami Ajala and Mr Olatunbosun Ọjọ́awo are other mobilisers I met with in Ire-Akari Community. These mobilesers are on neighbourhood campaigns on family planning in Ward 7 of Oluyole LGA.
