Acting Chief Commissioner of the Southern Provinces, G.H Findlay approved the change in title of BALE to OLUBADAN on 18th, June 1936. However, five days on, the then Resident Ward-Price asked that the notification in the gazette be delayed. He explained that “trouble might arise” in future because the present Bale's family might claim to have a right to supply his successors.
Alternatively, a group opposing the Bale could accuse him of usurping this right, even if it was not his actual intention.
